The Tungsten Carbide core bit is designed to cut soft formations with very small gravel, sticky shales or clay. Tungsten carbide inserts are selectively placed in the carbide matrix. Waterways are designed for optimum discharge of fluid and aid in controlling matrix abrasion to maximize cutting efficiency and penetration. 

Advantages:

• Compare to diamond core bit. these are relatively cheaper.
• Cut effectively at low r.p.m. and low weight on bit.
• In soft formations, they can be cost effective.
